My 5 favourite places: Coffee edition
Coffee is one of those things that I definitely can’t get through the day without.
Vancouver is home to some incredible coffee roasters and coffee shops that take your coffee experience to the next level. Whether you are a coffee connoisseur, the aesthetic coffee shop chaser, or just someone looking for their next caffeine fix, I have five places to share with you! As with my other installations of 5 favourite places, this list is by no means exhaustive and will probably change over time.
Here are my favourite places for coffee in Vancouver:
5. Cartems Donuts
Though technically a donut shop first, all three Cartems Donuts locations serve Elysian Coffee. Aside from drip coffee, they also have espresso drinks and tea lattes, and of course, their wide selection of innovative donuts. Can you come up with a more iconic duo? I’ll wait.
4. Nemesis Coffee
If you’re looking for a place to really enjoy your coffee and feel super fancy while you do so, Nemesis Coffee is your place. Sourcing high quality coffee beans from roasters across the country and internationally, you can tell that those at Nemesis are serious about their coffee, as well as their food menu.
3. Propaganda Coffee
Nestled in Chinatown, Propaganda Coffee serves up plenty of local and Canadian favourites such as Timbertrain, Elysian, Bows and Arrows and Phil and Sebastian, to name a few. The space is very minimalist and no-nonsense, and is the perfect place to kick back with your favourite cup of coffee while catching up with friends or getting some work done. Plus, there are plenty of baked goodies to have with your coffee!
2. Buro Espresso Bar
If you are all about the aesthetic, look no further than Buro Espresso Bar in Gastown! Located right where Water Street diverges from West Cordova Street, this triangular space is clean, minimalist, and a beacon of natural light thanks to its many windows! I’ve written a lot of different things in Buro – book chapters, academic papers, and love letters – and can definitely affirm that it is a great space to work at. Also don’t forget to check out their sister shop, Coffee Bar, further down Water Street AND by Waterfront Station!
1. Prado Cafe
With three locations to serve you (and a few more coming down the pipeline), Prado Cafe is a classic coffee shop that is ready to serve you and help you be your most efficient self. Fuelled by 49th Parallel Coffee Beans, this coffee shop and eatery serves plenty of amazing coffee drinks as well as caffeine free drinks, as well as a number of delicious baked goods and lunch/brunch dishes.
